Chinese New Year of the Tiger in Maidenhead Town Centre
Maidenhead town centre was buzzing on Saturday 13 February with celebrations for Chinese New Year. Anita Li, Chairman of the Chinese and Oriental Community Association and Julian Dale, who runs Eagle Claw Kung Fu worked with Maidenhead Town Partnership to organise the spectacular event.
In the Nicholsons Shopping Centre there was free lantern making for children in the town and face-painting. At 1pm the crowds gathered at the Boy and the Boat statue on the High Street to watch the traditional lion dance. Hundreds came out to watch the parade as it wound its way through the town.
Quality streets for Maidenhead - Your Town Your Choice
High quality streets and open spaces will help make the town centre a place to be proud of.
Paving and street furniture will be important elements of the new look and will become part of the future plans for Maidenhead's rejuvenation. They can make the town feel more distinctive and welcoming and bring economic benefits too.
To help you see what could be achieved across the town centre, samples of paving and street furniture have been installed on the High Street (outside Savers and McDonald's). Now we want to know what you think.
We would like your views on the materials, colours and designs so that you can help the Council and PRoM make decisions about the town centre's look and feel.

Special shoppers rate at Nicholsons car park
£2 for up to four hours parking.
In response to feedback received from residents, town centre shoppers and the local traders, the council has decided to introduce a new up to 4 hours tariff, that will come into effect on the 15 September.
The revised tariff will mean that shoppers are able to have up to 4 hours parking for a very affordable £2. This will make it convenient and easy for shoppers in the town to browse at their leisure and stay longer in the town without feeling rushed.
The new shopper rate will also help attract additional footfall to the town supporting local businesses.
The new tariff will be introduced with effect from the 15 September 2008 and will be promoted through the local press, leaflets and posters as well as being promoted on the tariff board in the car park.
The Shopper Rate compliments the FREE parking on Sundays and FREE evening parking for Advantage Card holders (£1 without an Advantage Card).
